1. Information we collect
DrivePath is a teen driving log app, and we collect only what the log itself needs:
| We collect | We never collect |
|---|---|
| First name (for your driver profile) | Last name |
| Your state (to load hour requirements) | Email address |
| Drive logs — date, duration, supervisor name, road type, weather, lighting | Location or GPS data |
| Optional profile photo | Contacts, calendar, or browsing data |
We also automatically receive basic technical data: device type, iOS version, app version, and a randomly generated user ID used for anonymous analytics. None of it identifies you personally.
2. How we use your information
Your data supports exactly three things:
- Core function — tracking your practice hours against your state's requirements and generating your DMV-ready driving log export.
- Syncing and backup — keeping your log safe across your devices through your personal iCloud account.
- Improving the app — anonymous usage analytics (via Mixpanel) and subscription management (via AppHud).
3. Where your data lives
DrivePath is local-first. Your driving log is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework, with optional backup to your own iCloud account. We do not operate our own servers, and we do not store your personal data on external servers. If you delete the app and your iCloud backup, your data is gone — because we never had a copy.
4. Third-party services
Three services touch limited data, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple — iCloud sync/backup and payment processing for DrivePath Premium (Apple Privacy Policy)
- Mixpanel — anonymous usage analytics tied to the random user ID, never your identity (Mixpanel Privacy Policy)
- AppHud — subscription status management for Premium (AppHud Privacy Policy)
5. What we never do
- We do not sell your data — to anyone, ever.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not track where you drive. DrivePath logs time and conditions, not routes. Parents choosing between logging apps and surveillance apps can read more in our parent's guide.
6. Children's privacy
DrivePath is designed for learner drivers, typically ages 15–17. For users under 13, we require parental consent consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Because we collect no email, no location, and no last name, the data footprint for any minor using DrivePath is minimal by design.
7. Your rights and choices
- Delete everything, any time — in-app Settings includes full data deletion, which removes your log from your device and your iCloud backup.
- Third-party removal — you can request deletion of the anonymous analytics data held by our third-party services by contacting us.
- Export first — your data belongs to you; export your full log as PDF or CSV whenever you want.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll notify you inside the app before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
